Greg, I loved your essay. I agree our purpose here on Earth is to learn and to teach. I’ve always wanted to read “Conversations with God”. I will, but I found it fascinating what you said about God wanting to learn through us. I usually view it from the viewpoint of our soul seeking expansion and growth, but this is the first time I think about it in God’s perspective. I guess the other way I’ve thought about it is God wanting to enjoy his creation through us. And there is all the truth and beauty in these lyrics.

To answer your question, no, I don’t believe it would be a good fit for The Ascent. What I’ve noticed is that they focus on actionable take aways from the readers; they love listicles and how-to’s written from a writers personal perspective/experience. It’s rather bland writing to be honest, but whenever I write for them, I have “value, value, value, action, action, action” in a loop in my head. The less story-telling the better. Your essay is beautiful though. I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
